Stories from the past

One of the great joys of maintaining this blog is hearing from readers whose own Adirondack memories intersect with these places.

Recently, I received an email from a woman who had been searching for the exact location where her husband proposed to her in 1993. After discovering this blog, the photographs confirmed what she had long hoped; the spot was the Cedar River. The proposal took place on the large rock in the middle of the river, a place that has remained deeply meaningful to them. The couple returned to the same location the following year as part of their honeymoon.

With her kind permission, I'm pleased to share this photograph of the happy couple, taken at the Cedar River Lean-to in 1993.
